WORK/LIFE BALANCE

WORK/LIFE BALANCE PART 2

Kelly Wainwright is a multidisciplinary artist, movement facilitator, writer, scribbler, and creative producer working across painting, installation, photography, text — and her signature movement practice, MoFlo (Movement + Floorwork).

Her practice spans vivid abstraction and large-scale, immersive experiences — from PB&J sculptures to women bathing in milk beneath wide skies. Whether through paint, fabric, sound, movement, scribbles, or ritual, her work explores how we connect, and come alive.

It’s all about bringing people back into their bodies — through play, color, sensory immersion, words, bones, gravity, throw, flop, and float — helping us remember the flavor, the saltiness, the smells, the pulse of being alive. Reinhabiting our own skin again — fully, messily, beautifully. Her process is tactile and embodied — a dance between the absurd and the intimate.

In my painting practice, I embrace raw canvas, unprimed surfaces, and unvarnished expression. I resonate deeply with fearless mark-makers like Richard Serra, Cy Twombly, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Energy, honesty, and texture are playfully explored, and imperfection is celebrated. I’m a scribbler. I work with color, movement, and whatever wants to come through my hands. Scribblers don’t tend to explain, polish, or apologize. They leave traces.”

Based in Cape Town and working globally, Kelly is currently developing her current culmination of works she calls PIMPP

We just bought Ezra’s tickets for the World Class Surf Academy – whoot whoot!, — thanks to our big raffle/surf documentary night in Cape Town, & generous donations on GoFundMe.

We continue to rally for all his extra gear & travel costs/extra board + baggage fees! We are giving our KEEP THE KIDS SALTY stickers to anyone who give less than $100. Anyone over that gets magnets too. And, anyone over $250 gets a mug! (as a Small gesture of thanks!).

From July through December, we’re opening up our much-loved Lakeside home for someone who wants to step into a Cape Town rhythm of living — not just rent a house, but settle into a lifestyle.

Mornings start with coffee on the deck. Afternoons are for pool swims, hikes in the neighborhood, beach walks, or tidal pool exploring — all within 5-10 minutes. Dinners happen in the indoor-outdoor kitchen with every door open (or cozy by the wood-burning stove when it’s cold). Evenings move between the courtyard, the pergola, the outdoor living room — or a long bath when you need it.

The space is fully set up for real life:

  • 3 bedrooms + office
  • Fully furnished
  • Pool + multiple outdoor living areas
  • Renovated and comfortable for remote work
  • Cleaner, gardener, security, and pool care included

The home is shared with two much-loved indoor/outdoor cats (Billy Bob & Ziggy) who add warmth and personality to the space. They’re independent — there’s an automatic feeder & water dispenser that our cleaner refills twice a week when she’s here — but they’re also around for a snuggle or play session if you’re keen.

You’re minutes from the beach, mountains, Muizenberg, and Kalk Bay — morning swims, walks, great coffee, restaurants, shops, and nature all within easy reach. The neighborhood is convenient with your choice of grocery stores.

R48,000/month (negotiable!)

Ideal for: relocating families, digital nomads, visiting families, longer stays, or locals between homes who want a place that feels truly lived in.
